I have played instruments (keyboards, guitar, a scattering of orchestral instruments) since my childhood. I discovered singing as an adult and have traversed the realms of classical, opera, medieval, international sacred chant, and popular song.
Sacred chant was a central focus of my performance for over 20 years; I helped found and lead the medieval/Gregorian chant group Peregrine and produced their two CDs, and sang chant and led chant (including quite a bit of interfaith chant) in many different contexts.
In 2020 I wrote a set of autobiographical songs based on the Psalms and recorded some demos. I love this cycle and am still working on them, along with some new songwriting endeavors.
In early 2025 I started working on these materials (along with Renaissance music and jazz standards) with the wonderful medieval/Renaissance harpist (and my longtime Gregorian chant collaborator) Bill McJohn. I am hoping the "Psalms of Joseph" will see the light of day as a performance sometime soon.
In 2023 and 2024 I created and performed a set of traditional ballads with an intention for ancestral healing. You can learn more and see a recording of a performance with Jeri Howe (harp) and Juliana Brandon (puppeteer) here
