New Program: Finding a Path Through the Forest

I’m very happy to announce that my wife Victoria and I will be offering a program together at the Phinney Neighborhood Center on Tuesday, January 31. Although we haven’t presented together in public for a while, our collaboration is one of the sweetest realities of my life and it’s wonderful to be able to share that again.

We have been realizing that for both of us, supporting people in the cultivation of their sacred imagination is a core part of our purpose. Although that’s been brewing for a long time, it has only recently become conscious and articulate. In this program we will be digging into that in a couple of different ways. She’ll be doing a lecture on the image of forest in literature and tales; I’ll be building on that to talk about mapping as a sacred activity. For me this grows right out of my Soul Cartography work – and among other things the evening serves as an introduction to that process, which I’ll be offering again beginning on February 7. For Victoria, it’s the long-awaited resumption of her wonderful Symbol, Psyche, and the Sacred series.

I hope you can join us! Details are below.

FINDING A PATH THROUGH THE FOREST
An evening of exploring the ways of the soul

January 31, 2017, 7-9pm

Phinney Neighborhood Center, $20

The Forest in Folktales, Fairy Tales, and Literature

Victoria Scarlett

A visual presentation looking at the image of the forest, its symbolism, and its place in mythical journeys.  Focusing on beautiful fine-art illustrations (especially ones drawn from children’s literature) we will explore the forest as a place of testing and initiation—a place of darkness and danger, but also one of magic, blessing and transformation.  This presentation is a part of Victoria’s Symbol, Psyche, and the Sacred programming.

Finding Your Way Through the Forest

Joseph Anderson

An introduction to maps and mapping as a metaphor for the spiritual path. We’ll explore practical ways you can use simple mapping exercises to gain a fresh perspective on where your soul’s journey is taking you and how you can proceed toward your destination with joy, trust, and confidence. This is an introduction to the Soul Cartography workshop series, which begins on February 7.
